Blenderfish – Be a funky fish
First formed in the summer of 2008 the band Blenderfish based in Loveland Colorado, has a unique sound that incorporates a diversity of styles and influences.
Blenderfish members are all songwriters with backgrounds in blues, rock, jazz folk and metal. The name Blenderfish comes from the blending of these influences in its approach and philosophy of being progressive, “swimming like funky fish in the ocean”. Incorporating different instrumentation the seven piece band brings sounds of the cello, bass, acoustic guitar, tribal rhythms, vocal harmonies and synthesizer. The mix of acoustic and new age effects gives the band dimension and provides a deep rich energy. Strong rhythms with melodic overtones create an edgy feel with forward momentum that holds its audiences interests while encouraging the connection for movement and dance. Each member shares a love for music and the positive roll it provides in the world. The band hopes that its influence on its fans promotes creativity, individuality and a passion for music Rick Miller A long time Coloradoan currently living in Loveland. He is a classically trained musician who has played cello in many orchestral settings. Rick has many other band experiences from rock to Celtic. Having these different influences Rick has the ability to catch you with the registers of his cello and rock you with funky driving bass. As a song writer he weaves interesting progressions with unique timing and tone. Rick brings an open mindedness that embraces different sounds with the skills and the music theory to pull it off. Kali (Goddess of Love and Accoutrements) - weaves percussive threads that bring forth rhythmic emotion. Long time healer and social awareness promoter, Kali’s music styles show the passion and love that she has in her soul. Kali has the ability to play many instruments, however, her energy truly shines when in percussive harmony and movement. Kali brings both warmth and dynamic flair that drives the Blenderfish sound.. Shawn Bond - a builder, artist and creator local Loveland resident Shawn Bond has a huge passion for creativity, cleverness and determination to follow many artistic endeavors. Shawn has a passion for music that is inspiring and brings with him a abundance of band experiences. Shawn is a lead guitarist who is also versatile with many instruments. Shawn’s song writing abilities and talent give Blenderfish a melodic catchiness. Brian Anthony – Started playing percussion at age eight and has been in a number of talent shows and different groups. As a teenager he set aside percussion to follow his songwriting. Soon he was using a percussive style on the guitar and vocalizing. Brian’s unique vibrations caused many feet to move with his experiences of leading projects such as the band Chico and other local Kansas City music projects. Always loving the drums he was driven back to his roots to reconnect with friends in the Loveland Colorado community. Brian’s tribal percussive style and unique harmonizing vocals has made a huge influence on the Blenderfish sound. Chris Rabe - The youngest member of the Blenderfish crew, Chris combines the energy of his youth with the confidence and ability of a seasoned musician. Playing bass for over ten years, his slap technique and finger picking ability keeps the positive vibrations flowing. Playing in several music projects in Ft. Collins Chris brings a diversity of musical experiences to the Blenderfish sound and is establishing himself as a strong song writer. Josh and Melissa Rabe swept in from the Kansas plains. Melissa being born and raised in Colorado met up with Josh in North Eastern Kansas and the two are currently living in Loveland. The duo only recently formed when Melissa decided that playing music would be fun. Quickly finding her voice with the synthesizer and remembering the many piano lessons she rebelled against as a child, Melissa has become a serious musician who is having more fun than ever. With her background in fine arts, Melissa uses her creativity to paint and sculpt sounds that provide the subtle, abstract backdrop that glues the band together. Josh rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist has played in Northern Kansas bands before moving to Colorado. Driving rhythms, poetic but edgy lead vocals define his song writing and helps set the tone for the Blenderfish sound. Josh too shares a passion for life, music and community.
We strongly encourage you to give the blended sound a try. Our hopes are that you enjoy our songs as much as we have fun playing and creating them. We are a band with lots of musical diversity and experiences.
